Morning Musings: Inspiration for your Day!

I felt in the need of a little inspiration this morning, so found this to share from my Morning Musing archives.  I hope you find it helpful!

Photo taken on Seabrook Island, SC where the channels pour into the ocean.
Photo taken on Seabrook Island, SC where the channels pour into the ocean.

I see a river flowing into the ocean.  The water is rough and tumbling as it merges with the salty sea.  There is no going back for the river.  It has reached the place where the only choice is to come together with the source of its existence. What has been separate for so long finally finds its way home.

Shouldn’t this be cause for celebration?  Why is the river struggling with its own true nature?

Why do we?

The image I saw for myself this morning was of a huge red sun slipping into a vast lake.  I felt the sun energy warm the water, giving it life-giving energy.  I felt the water soften the sun. Both flowed together instead of working apart.  It felt like peace.

I asked for help understanding what this meant in my daily life.   How can fire and water merge in my world?  I heard, “Allow your feeling and spiritual self to be the container that your “doing” self works through.  Let your passion and fire be expressed through your sensitive soul.”

Today, I promise myself that I will do that.  I will let my feeling self choose where the focus and warmth of me needs to be.  I will let myself be whole.  I will let myself be me.

I pray it is so, and so it is…

Love to all,

Nancy

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Support from Mother Earth

I am supported and loved by Mother Earth! I recognize my shadows and release them with ease.
I am supported and loved by Mother Earth! I recognize my shadows and release them with ease.

I love this tree!  It is a very old and famous oak tree called the Angel Oak in South Carolina. I chose it today because of the feeling I get when I connect to the energy of the branch as it rests on the Earth.  Sometimes, life can get a little heavy. This reminds me that Mother Earth is always there to offer her support, both physically and energetically.  I also really love how the shadows are reflected on the ground around the branch.  A good reminder to look closely to be sure that which we are reacting to is actually there.  Sometimes it is just a shadow of what has been.

How to Work with the Image to Support the Process

  • Take a moment to center yourself.  Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly three times.  Let your exhale be longer than your inhale.
  • Open your eyes and focus on the image.  Ask your Spiritual Support Team to help you come into harmonic resonance with the image and to receive the amount of energy from the essence of the place for your highest and best good.
  • Use your imagination to put yourself in the photo.  Use all your senses to interact with what is shown.  What do you feel, see, hear, smell, taste and touch as you connect?
  • Ask for Divine guidance on how you can incorporate the gifts from this essence into your own life and situation.  Allow yourself to feel the love and support flowing to you and through you from the Earth and the Divine.
  • Repeat the affirmation (see caption) as you breathe in and out slowly.
  • Be open to any additional thoughts, sounds, smells, or images that come to you as you are working with the photo.  Consider these as messages to support you on your path.  Ask what these impressions mean to you.  What do they make you think or feel?
  • Continue to recall the image throughout the day when you wish to bring in the energy it provides.
  • Express your gratitude for the gifts given to you through the experience.

 Have a beautiful day!

Love Yourself Whole

What if you loved yourself so much that you never chose to think, say or do anything that wasn’t for your highest and best good?  What if your loved ones chose the same thing?  What would our world look like then?

I find it interesting that when I ponder these questions, I sense an unease in me.  Wouldn’t that mean that people would be selfish and only caring for themselves?  This question points to the problem for our human collective.  We have it built into the collective unconscious that loving oneself isn’t good for others.

Is that true though?

If I love myself and only do that which is highest and best for me, isn’t that also highest and best for you?  When we are in a state of love, we are connected to the highest version of ourselves.  We are connected to the Divine and the vibrational resonance where energy flows easily through our being.  We are in balance.  So how can my being in the state of love in regards to my own well-being be anything but a good thing for others?

It can’t be.

I’m making a new promise to myself, starting right now.  It is my intention to love myself unconditionally and choose only that which is for my highest and best good.  That means choosing to eat what my body really needs, instead of listening to the millions of opinions about what that should be.  It means I choose to maintain my boundaries, so I only give when I am able to do in a healthy way.  It means I choose to sleep when I’m tired, exercise regularly to keep my body strong, spend time in nature every day, and connect with others in ways that are nurturing to me. I choose to listen to myself, trust myself, and love myself whole.

I invite you to take this pledge with me today.  Together, let’s show our children and our world that love really is the answer to every question.  Let’s show them, by showing ourselves, what it is like to live a life where we feel truly loved, not only by others and by the Divine, but by ourselves.

Wishing you abundant blessings!

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Allow the Flow

I release all resistance to what is. I accept and flow with life changes, knowing that all are for my highest good.
I release all resistance to what is. I accept and flow with life changes, knowing that all are for my highest good.

The intuitive image I saw this morning was of a river of mud flowing by.  I saw flashes of diamonds in the mud as it churned by me.  I saw an Angel on the opposite bank.  I went into the mud and felt it healing me.  Deep underneath, I found a huge quartz crystal.  I lifted it up and brought it to the Angel on the other side.  Together, we placed it in a pool of clear water and I felt it amplifying Divine clarity through the flowing waters of the world.  I heard that for the river to return to water and flow, I need to let go of resistance to what is and allow the debris of outworn ideas or experiences to be swept away.  I need to accept what is and what is not, trusting that in allowing things to change, I allow myself and my loved ones to experience their greatest good.

I do a weekly reading for my membership community and this week’s image was of sliding down a huge, blue water slide.  Perhaps allowing ourselves to believe that in letting go of resistance to things ending and changing we are bringing more joy and fun to our lives would help to make it easier to get into the flow of life.  I know many of us are experiencing outer and inner changes right now.  Let’s collectively choose to believe that these changes are sweeping away the debris from that which no longer is working to bring in the clean, clear flow of new love and joy!

Wishing you all much love!

Shifting to the Higher Mind

Have you been finding it difficult to keep a positive frame of mind?  If so, you aren’t alone. As we are now in a period where we are no longer able to hold on to false identities or beliefs about ourselves, there is an increasing pressure to choose a higher point of view.  Below are a few things I am finding helpful. I hope they help you too!

Smile:  Simple, I know, but it really works!  I was having a challenging day last week and I went for a walk.  I made a commitment to myself to keep smiling through the whole walk, even though I felt no interest in doing so.  After the walk was complete, my mood had totally changed!  So now when I start to worry, I encourage myself to smile. It seems impossible to worry and smile at the same time!

Shift your focus:  It occurred to me that when I feel something physically off, I always think I am repressing an emotion.  I immediately begin searching the negative feelings that could be stored there.  Then it occurred to me, perhaps I should shift my focus.  What positive emotion is being repressed?  Instead of sadness, I connect with joy. Instead of anger, I connect with inner peace.  I am finding that this works to relieve the symptom more quickly than trying to bring up the negative emotion.

Rephrase things:  I have started using a new phrase with myself and my loved ones.  Typically, when I find myself worrying, I feel afraid I will be unable to handle my emotional reaction to the situation that is concerning me (for those of us who are empathic/highly sensitive, emotions can sometimes be overwhelming).  Lately, I have started rephrasing this.  For example I say to myself, “I can handle the emotions I am feeling right now with ease.  My emotions are here to help me and I process them with ease.”  I also use this with my loved ones, reminding myself that they can handle whatever it is they are choosing to learn at this time.  When I rephrase my thoughts to see the other person and myself as capable, I find my anxiety leaves.

I believe we are in the process of retraining our brain to work from the frontal lobes (love centered thinking) instead of the back of the brain (fear based thinking).  As we consciously choose to come from love, we strengthen this shift.  With practice, I believe it will be easier and easier to stay in a positive frame of mind.

Wishing you a beautiful, loved-centered day!

Create Your Own Yoga Mudras to Empower!

Are you ready to move from fear to love?  I wanted to share a technique that I am finding enormously helpful.  One of my favorite types of energy therapy is something called Jin Shin Jyutsu.  It is often compared to acupuncture without the needles.  This Japanese developed system helps to connect the energy lines of the body to restore health and well-being.  During our August Sanctuary Summer Series event, Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) practitioner, Donna Tkachyk, shared a simple technique using the hands to balance our system.  Not long after, I had a vision in which I was guided by Archangel Raphael to assign meaning to my different fingers and the palms of my hands to help me focus on my life purpose and intention for myself.  I’ve been using this system to create yoga mudras that help me stay focused on my intention of coming from love.

The process is a little too complicated to share in a blog post, but I do have a simple version to share with you.  Donna told us that the five fingers are associated with different emotions in JSJ.  When you hold these fingers, you help to shift the emotion into its positive form.  Here is a brief summary…

Thumb – Worry

Index Finger – Fear

Middle Finger – Anger

Ring Finger – Sadness

Little Finger – Trying to

In my vision, I was told to assign the positive expression to each finger.  On my left hand, I had a statement for each finger connected to something I have learned that helps to shift this emotional state and restore balance.  For example, sadness can be shifted by nurturing myself and fear can be shifted by empowering myself to only do that which is mine to do.  These are personal to my particular life path and personality, so I have found that others I have done this with have different word focuses for each.  On the right hand, each finger was associated with a single word that I use to remind me of who I really am, not who I am when I am afraid.  For example, the little finger was associated with being dependable.  The ring finger had the quality of kindness.  Again, this is more of a personal system, but hopefully you get the idea.

A simplified version would be to switch the original list to the positive or higher consciousness emotion. The new list is:

Thumb – Trust

Index Finger – Love

Middle Finger – Power

Ring Finger – Joy

Little Finger – Surrender

You can use these intentions to empower yourself either by holding a particular finger or by bringing combinations of fingers together.  Keep in mind that the left hand is associated with going within/yin/feminine energy and the right side is associated with taking action/yang/masculine energy.   So if you are working to feel more trusting, you might first hold the left thumb to feel trust in yourself.  Then you might hold the right thumb to experience trust in others or the world.  Bringing the thumbs together brings creates love and harmony.  You can experiment with different finger combinations to see how they make you feel.   Try holding the finger positions for three minutes while breathing in slowly and deeply.

I was also guided to assign meaning to the palms of my hands.  The left hand word is my soul purpose and the right hand is how I express this purpose.  For me, the word is “connect” for the left palm since my purpose is to help myself (and others) connect to who I am, the Divine, the Earth, tools for spiritual growth, and other soul friends.  For my right hand the word is “teach” because that is how I create the connections.  I often will touch a thumb to my palm and hold one of my fingers to empower the intention I want. For example, I may hold my right thumb on my left palm which means I am asking to connect to my inner wisdom.

Have fun experimenting with this technique!  If you want to do a more personalized version, I’m happy to help!  Just indicate that you’d like to work on the yoga mudra technique and I’ll extend the $10 off/one hour session to you (until the end of October 2013).  Email me at Nancy@EmpoweringLightworkers.com to participate.

Wishing you much love and inner peace!

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Perception

GYG Perception
I see beyond the surface to the beauty that rises above. I smile, remembering the beauty waiting to be born.

This is a picture of a wildflower called Bloodroot.  It is one of the early spring arrivals and it is always such a thrill to see it after the long winter.  I chose to share this today as a reminder that even when things seem to be dead and lifeless, new life is growing beneath the surface. When we hold on to this truth, we can smile and in smiling change our whole perception.

Reflections on our Earth Sanctuary Journey with Jaap Van Etten Ph.D

Laurie and Jaap at a lung meridian meditation spot during our vortex tour.

I just wanted to share some reflections on the amazing weekend events that culminated our Earth Sanctuary program.  As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I had a life-changing experience out on the red rocks of Sedona in October 2012.  My dear friend, Laurie Price, and I went on a vortex tour with Jaap Van Etten, Ph.D.  Jaap is a biologist who has expanded his learning to understanding the Earth and the role these energies play in our spiritual evolution.  Through this work and other study, he developed his own intuitive and healing gifts, which all who were blessed with the opportunity to work with him last weekend can attest to.  After this experience, I started to work with Jaap once a month to continue the process of clearing out false identities and becoming clearer on who I really am and why I am here.  Through our work, I found myself drawn to reconnect with nature and the Earth in a way I hadn’t done in years.

Earth Sanctuary Field trip to the Blessed Foundation in February 2013.

In December, I had a really strong vision that guided me to begin an Earth Sanctuary program in collaboration with Jaap.  Jaap had kicked off the program by teaching us a bit about Earth energies and how they worked.  After that, I worked with four groups through guided meditations focusing on each of the seven chakra energy systems in the body to bring them into harmony with the energies of the Earth.  I also did monthly empowerment readings with small groups.  The culmination of the program ended this last weekend with an opportunity to work with Jaap directly at our spiritual home base, the Blessed Foundation, here in Ohio where we had created the chakra mediation places during the nine month program.

Jaap’s visit started with a tour of the Blessed Foundation property where he found the naturally occurring energy centers available.  He located fourth, seventh, and two ninth chakra vortexes; kidney, gall bladder, and small intestine meridians; two consciousness vortexes; and two portals.  Jaap shared how the property was deeply connected to Angelic guidance (especially through Archangel Raphael) and how Dee Curci is clearly the spiritual caretaker of the space while her husband John is the physical caretaker.  He was very impressed with how Dee and John had instinctively created such a dynamic and powerful energetic space through the placement of the Chartres labyrinth and its statues of Archangel Gabriel, Mary, and Jesus.  The Jesus statue is directly in line with the seventh chakra vortex behind the retreat center and a consciousness vortex is in the labyrinth’s center!

Jaap spent the rest of the day having private sessions with our community members.  My own session was shared with my Sedona partner, Laurie.  Jaap helped us to see what we were focusing on to complete the transformation process that began in Sedona.  For me, the focus was on establishing a more secure first chakra.  It was time for me to fully integrate how to create a sense of safety for my inner child and my adult self.

On Friday, we had a gathering of those who had participated in the whole Earth Sanctuary program since January.  We came together to set the intention for the upcoming vortex tours over the weekend and also for some fun!  Jaap had his very first s’more!

Saturday morning was the Role of Earth Energies in Our Spiritual Journey Workshop.  We had a group of 20 wise and loving souls participating!  One of the participants mentioned looking around the circle of those gathered and feeling very awed by the amount of collective knowledge gathered there.  Jaap’s insights and sharing provided us all with new understanding of our roles as caretakers of Mother Earth.  After the sharing, we went out to experience the vortexes and kidney meridian.  I so enjoyed feeling the gifts of the Earth energies and the collective love of all those gathered!  It was a magical experience.

Saturday afternoon, Jaap and I went out with the first vortex tour group from our Earth Sanctuary program.  For this experience, I found myself working with how to be a good parent to my inner child.  I realized that I often sacrifice my needs out of a misguided wish to save those I love from suffering.  Jaap and the kidney meridian helped me to understand that only doing what is mine to do is truly the way to help empower others.

On Sunday morning, we went out with the second vortex group and because of the rain, I don’t have any photos. I found myself in very yin/feminine energy during this event.  Archangel Raphael came to me in each meditation, inviting me to work more closely with her/him.  I found myself in a receiving state and had a very clear vision of what my soul’s balance is for the masculine/power/consciousness, feminine/wisdom/creativity, and child/love triad looks like.  Jaap had suggested we draw a pie graph depicting the current distribution of these aspects within ourselves and then drawing a second graph of what our soul path needs it to be.  That is when I had the vision of the center being the child/love with an equal distribution of the feminine and masculine energies surrounding the child.  The feeling of deep security that brought was amazing!

Ken Lyons and Jaap Van Etten

On Sunday afternoon, we went out with the third vortex group.  This group’s members were central to the whole Sedona experience and Earth Sanctuary program coming into being.  Angie and Ken Lyons are the ones who invited Laurie and I to stay with them in Sedona (Laurie is also a member of this group).  They are also the ones who found Jaap originally and recommended we do a vortex tour with him.  For this group, my intention was to focus on the child.  On the fourth chakra vortex, I found myself able to really connect into the feeling of being loved more deeply than I had on any of the other visits.  I really felt surrounded by loving support, both Angelic and through the people who were there with me.  It was a good thing that happened because at the kidney meridian, my child’s grief came pouring out in a much unexpected way.  I found myself gripped with a terrible anxiety and then crushing sadness.

Group B Members - Dee, Angie and Ken
Group B Members – Dee, Angie and Ken

At first, I couldn’t even verbalize or consciously understand what was happening.  All I could do was curl up in a ball and let Angie hold me while I sobbed.  When enough of the grief cleared for me to speak, I found myself pouring out all this fear of disappointing people or of not saying what was needed to keep them from suffering.  It was as if my very young child self had felt such a responsibility for the well-being of others that it never was able to feel it was good enough.  When people suffered, the child felt it had failed.  Jaap helped me see that the tears and the releasing were my way of finally freeing the child from carrying this unfair burden.  As each of these wonderful people affirmed my place and value to them, I felt the child in me begin to heal.   While not a fun experience, it was another life-changing one.  Much love to Jaap and the entire group for their kindness and support as I processed this deep wound, so it could heal.

Monday was Jaap’s last day of private sessions.  Laurie and I had a second session with him.  I found myself needing to ask questions, so that I could understand what had occurred.  For this experience, it was finally coming to recognize fully who I am and what my soul purpose is.  As I connect with the aspects of myself and the four Divine beings that guide and support me, I am able to help others connect to their deepest self.  As I teach the tools and techniques I have learned to heal myself, I help others to be empowered as well.  As I remember that my job is always to come from love of myself first, I am able to bring balance to the expression of wisdom and power in my world.

Today, I find myself feeling more secure in my inner sense of myself than I have ever been.  I feel more deeply connected to the four Angelic beings who guide, nurture, support, and advise me.  I find myself feeling so grateful to Jaap for all the generous wisdom and love he shared with me and others over this weekend.  I am also eternally grateful for the beautiful soul friends who have come to be part of my journey.  As Jaap said, you are all such beautiful people.  What a gift you are to my life and our world.

Laurie Price and Jaap Van Etten at the Blessed Foundation
Laurie Price and Jaap Van Etten at the Blessed Foundation

Now, I find myself looking with joy as I contemplate the next phase of the adventure.  Jaap, Laurie and I are going to continue our collaboration with the intention of helping us all enhance our abilities to connect and nurture the Divine, Mother Earth, each other and ourselves.  I had this vision of a beautiful valley protected by mountains.  In the center, there was a beautiful blue lake, gentle hills, and green fields.  I saw homes there and felt the message was this is the world to create.  We work from where we are by creating this place in ourselves, in our families, and in our community.  As we do this, we send this peaceful, harmonious way of being into the collective and into the energy lines of the Earth.  That is how we bring peace here.  We start within ourselves; we start with love, and let it spread from there.  I’ll be sharing more soon!

Love to all!

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Seek Higher Ground

I am one with the rock. I am one with the wind. I am one with the river. I am one with the sun. All is in balance. Peace reigns within me.
I am one with the rock. I am one with the wind. I am one with the river. I am one with the sun. All is in balance. Peace reigns within me.

Greetings!

This has been a rough few weeks in my world and for some of the people I work with.  When I asked for guidance this morning during a meditation, the image I saw was myself walking over gravel in bare feet.  My feet were bloody and hurting, but standing still didn’t feel any better than moving forward.  A Spirit Guide came to me and offered me a pair of shoes.  They helped, but my feet still hurt.  I heard intuitively that it was time to stop walking.  I saw myself transform into a hawk and lift up into the sky.  I landed on a mountain top similar to the one in this photo.  Archangel Michael was there and he healed my feet.  I heard him say that even though things going on for our loved ones or ourselves may be painful right now, we don’t have to experience them without support.  “Seek higher ground, he said.”

So let’s do this together.  Take a moment to use the meditation tips below and feel the majesty and beauty of Sedona.  The rocks are old there.  You can feel the ancient wisdom and deep sense of knowing.  Sit on the rock at the top of the mountain.  Let yourself merge into the beauty of the blue sky, the solidness of the red rock, the serenity of the silence.  Maybe if we all spend some time there together, we can bring some of the peace it holds into the world.

Much love to you all!

Nancy

Good News? Bad News? Who Can Tell!

My dear Soul Friend and colleague, Lauren May, shared a 2000 year old story that comes from the Taoist tradition with me the other day to help me with a challenging situation I was facing.   I found it reprinted in an article by Evelyn Theiss in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, so I wanted to share it with all of you.  Here it is…

A Chinese farmer gets a horse, which soon runs away. A neighbor says, “That’s bad news.” The farmer replies, “Good news, bad news, who can say?”
The horse comes back and brings another horse with him. Good news, you might say.

The farmer gives the second horse to his son, who rides it, then is thrown and badly breaks his leg.

“So sorry for your bad news,” says the concerned neighbor. “Good news, bad news, who can say?” the farmer replies.

In a week or so, the emperor’s men come and take every able-bodied young man to fight in a war. The farmer’s son is spared.

Good news, of course.

I’m sure we can all relate to this story.  There are times when things happen in our lives that seem to be disastrous, only to be shown to have a silver lining later on.  When I think of this concept, it makes me remember to step back and withhold my judgment about what is happening.  Do I remember to do this right away?  Not usually (which is where Lauren comes in!).  But when I finally do, I am able to feel more calm and able to respond in the highest and best way.

An exercise I share in my book, Soul Friends Guide to Surviving the Pit:  A Step-by-Step Handbook for Surviving and Thriving through Tough Life Changes I share the following exercise in Step Seven:  Be Grateful:

“Take a moment to look back over your own life.  Do you have your own story of something that seemed horrible at the time, but turned out to be a blessing?  If you do, record it below.  Remembering it will help you to believe that no matter how it looks right now, something good will be born from today’s struggles.”

I wrote this book as part of my healing process after going through a divorce in 2000.  It took me a lot of years to finally get it in print, but I’m glad I finally did because it helps me to be able to look back as needed!  The steps that I went through to move from a place of despair to a place of hope are applicable in all stages of life.  So if you are facing a challenge today, perhaps looking back at the places where what sounded like bad news turned out to be good news will help.

Love and blessings to you all!

Nancy
